Peaks, Valleys & Perspective
Forgetting is easy. It wasn’t long ago when we were entirely focused on Russia and what their war with Ukraine meant to the world energy markets. Who could forget when Houthis militant attacks in the Red Sea sent pricing continuously higher. On the flip side, the Covid demand shock of 2020, shale boom in 2014, or 2008 financial crisis all tanked pricing. Point is, we get through these peaks and valleys that often times we like to label as the new normal. A supplier, or any business partner for that matter, has to have open, transparent, and constant communication to assist you weather the storm. They may not always be right, but they have to show that your best interests are important. The last few days of eye-for-an-eye ship attacks between the US and Iran has confirmed market sentiment that we may be at these levels until Mid terms. The President ironically, floating the notion as well. Although the steep backwardation still suggests this is a short term issue. Albeit one that will take some time to level out. The one thing we need to do is Never Forget.
