Diesel Exhaust Fluid

Dennis K Burke has Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) available in cases, drums, and bulk options.

What is DEF anyways?

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is a solution used in modern diesel engines to reduce harmful emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) into the atmosphere. It is a key component of a system called Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), which is designed to meet strict emissions standards and regulations, such as those set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the European Union.

DEF is a clear, non-toxic, and non-flammable fluid primarily composed of purified water (typically about 67.5%) and urea (around 32.5%). Urea is a chemical compound that, when injected into the exhaust stream of a diesel engine, helps convert NOx emissions into harmless nitrogen and water vapor. The chemical reaction that occurs in the SCR catalyst chamber breaks down the NOx gases, significantly reducing their environmental impact.

Packaging & Supply Options

Diesel Exhaust Fluid is available in bulk, totes, drums, and cases (2.5g bottles, 5g case).

DEF Drums and totes are closed systems with compliant materials. This ensures no product contamination. DEF has a very sensitive spec, so proper handling is critical to ensure product integrity and performance.

Because of the sensitive spec, we use dedicated DEF containers and run a 1 micron filter on bulk transfers to ensure the premium products we source maintain their integrity throughout the products journey to your facility. For more information on DEF product handling, check out the video below:
