Middle East Shipping Recovers, Prices Drop

As the ebb and flow of ship traffic in the Middle East returns to pre conflict levels, traders have cut roughly half the increase in futures pricing. Shipping rates through the Strait vary from 40-60% of pre conflict traffic over the last week. The last 15 days alone have shed just over $.60 on diesel futures seeing the lowest pricing since mid March. Gasoline has seen a similar fate dropping almost $.80. Expect a barrage of gouging pieces start to hit the news cycle, as always folks, it takes time for things to settle out. With finished product exports starting to return to normal levels and US demand of diesel and gasoline down by 6% and almost 2% respectively, you are likely to see those retail drops appear at a more drastic pace than usual. Still, with the steep backwardation in the market, you might see some spot outages at racks. Not with DKB, Service Matters. Our approach guarantees you fuel when you need it. Look for futures to have a slightly more muted downward pace for the next 15-20 days. Keep an eye out for buying opportunities for Q4 and beyond, and as always, please do not hesitate to reach out to discuss your specific needs.
