We
have a great safety program
and we're proud to tell you about it . . .
We run one of the
safest fleets in the industry.
At
Dennis K. Burke, we’re proud of our great safety record and commitment to the
community. We train and maintain our own staff of long-term professional
drivers. Our “Road Scholars” are recognized as some of the safest and most
well-informed drivers in the industry.
The reputation our staff has earned is
well-deserved and we take great pride in their professionalism and how well it
reflects on our company.
Understandably, employing a long-term staff is an
important part of any company’s safety strategy. We like to view our training
as a long-term investment too. It helps to keep our team’s focus on doing
their job safely.
An incentive to
keep us trying harder to do our jobs safely.
Recognizing our employee’s safety performance
is an important part of our safety program. We confer cash awards that increase
from year to year. Dennis K. Burke recognizes each employee’s years of
continuous accident-free service with cash awards that increase $100 for each
year of no-fault accidents. The program rewards the achievements of drivers and
warehouse staff who have a safe year around the facility and on the road.
Recipients also receive a Safety Service Award Pin from the National Safety
Council.
Most safety
procedures we learn
are just based on good common sense.
- We supplement our safety meetings and hazmat
training with the National Safety Council’s programs.
- As a member of CHEMTREC, our products’
safety info database is immediately available through a toll-free emergency
response service.
- We try to discuss new regulations, safety on
the road, and dealing with hypothetical emergency situations.
- Our Safety Committee prepares for our
meetings by collecting any information, updates and regulations that could help
to shape the scheduled agenda.
- Our employees also foster better relations with
their customers as a reliable source of knowledge about products and their uses.
We take a lot of
pride in helping
our customers with their programs.
To learn about hazardous material handling and
accident prevention, we run through hypothetical emergency situations, so our
drivers are more aware of possible hazards and better equipped to handle these
incidents. We bring our industry knowledge and equipment savvy to the community
too. We visit with local fire departments to help them learn about the equipment
and train for emergency situations. We lend our staff and equipment to
participate in emergency planning drills and mock scenarios.
If you need information about starting your own
safety program, give us a call. We can give you a few tips to get you on your

invested.
